Operative, Artificial Sports & Play Surfaces

About us

Envirosport is looking for a reliable and hardworking Operative to join our growing team, based from our yard and office in Southport, Merseyside.

We specialise in the maintenance and repair of artificial sports and play surfaces, working mainly with schools, sports clubs and other sporting facilities. Our work takes us across the UK, from London to Aberdeen, with the majority of our sites in the North West.

We are open to either full-time or part-time working arrangements for the right person. The full-time salary is up to £30,000 per year, depending on experience.

The role

This is a varied, predominantly lone-working role involving scheduled maintenance and repair work at customer sites. You will be responsible for completing work to a high standard, operating and maintaining company equipment, and looking after the vehicle and machinery assigned to you.

Key responsibilities

• Carrying out maintenance and repair work on artificial sports and play surfaces
• Completing scheduled work safely and to a high standard
• Operating and maintaining company machinery and equipment
• Keeping company vehicles and equipment clean, safe and in good working order
• Travelling to customer sites across the UK, including occasional overnight stays
• Working independently while maintaining communication with the office
• Representing Envirosport professionally on customer sites

Requirements

• Experience in grounds care or grounds maintenance is essential
• Experience with artificial grass or sports surfaces is preferred
• Full clean UK driving licence required
• Ability to pass an Enhanced DBS check
• Reliable and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently
• Good time management and communication skills
• Flexible approach to working hours, travel and outdoor work

Hours and travel

• Southport based, with travel to sites throughout the UK
• Typical working and travel hours are 06:00 to 17:00
• Full-time days are generally 8 to 10 hours
• Part-time hours can be discussed for the right candidate
• Some weekend work is required, approximately 5% of working time
• Approximately 15% of the role involves working away from home
• Accommodation and a nightly allowance are provided when working away
• Travel time to sites is included in pay
